Burnley have beaten a Verona Select side 7-0 this evening with Clarets' new boy Steve Jones grabbing four of the goals. Further strikes from Andy Gray, Kyle Lafferty and an own goal completed the rout.

The Clarets rattled in seven goals against a Verona select side this evening, with new boy Steve Jones netting four. Kyle Lafferty, Andy Gray and an own goal completed the rout in a game which saw the welcome return of Danny Coyne, who was given 19 minutes in goal after replacing Brian Jensen.

The select side from the Verona region are said to be the equivalent of an English Conference side, though tonight's result will do the Clarets' confidence no harm.

Burnley lined up:

(First half): Jensen, Sinclair, Foster, Thomas, Harley, Elliott, J O'Connor, McCann, Mahon, Jones, Gray.

Second half: Jensen (Coyne 71), Duff, McGreal, Thomas (Courtney 65), Harley (McCann 70), G O'Connor, Spicer, Hyde, Branch, Lafferty, Gray ((Mahon 56 (Jones 70)).
