The deals for both players run out next year, but the club are determined to keep the pair.

"Alex has already opened negotiations with Charlie to extend his contract and the same is being done with Danny Griffin," said United chairman Scott Carnegie.

"He's already had a long chat with Charlie, while the talks with Danny are at an early stage.

"We want to keep them and, working within our budget, we can do that."
