Dundee United manager Ian McCall has branded new signings Alan Archibald and Scott Paterson as the worst-kept secrets in Scottish football. The pair joined the Arabs on free transfers from Partick - news that will surprise no-one as news of pre-contract agreements had long since leaked out.

McCall said: "It was probably the worst-kept secret in Scottish football that they were heading to Tannadice.

"But I am glad that they are here now. They are two very talented players and will be a great asset to the club over the next two seasons and hopefully longer."
