Tangerines Manager Paul Hegarty isnt happy with his teams giving nature when it comes to giving the opposition goals. Dundee United manager Paul Hegarty's half-time rollicking failed to work as his side lost 3-2 to Hibernian in the third round of the Tennent's Scottish Cup.

Hegarty was hoping to see a change in his team after their three-week break, but was horrified to see them swept aside by a rampant Hibs side in the first half.

They failed to register a single shot on goal in the opening period, prompting anger from Hegarty and assistant Maurice Malpas.

Hegarty said: "I am very disappointed with the result, but what is more disappointing is that it took a talking-to from myself and Maurice at half time to get any reaction from the players.

"That it totally unacceptable and they have been told that. We gifted Hibs two goals, giving ourselves a mountain to climb. We climbed the mountain, but fell off again straight away.

"We are losing goals at an alarming rate just now. Good teams are built on a solid defence so we must learn to defend properly."
