Former Rams boss in on Tuesday?

George Burley is just about everyone's first choice to take over at Millwall. We now await Jeff Burnige's further announcement on Tuesday. Deadlines tend to come and go at Millwall, so don't be surprised if it's a longer wait than that! Burley clearly is the man to take Millwall forward.

He's been very complimentary of our team in the past and, as we're commuting distance from his home, we're convenient too.

But let's not kid ourselves.

We know that Burley may only use Millwall as a stepping stone to bigger things...unless of course, we end up in the UEFA Cup again - this time by virtue of a Premiership league position!

If he can get Derby into the play-offs, imagine what he can do with Millwall!

What's his alternative? Does he sit by the phone, waiting for a Premiership manager to get sacked?

Probably not.

It's nearly always better to be approached by a big club when you're in a job, rather than letting your coaching skills go rusty on the dole queue.

That's almost always the case, unless your name's Gordon Strachan!
