Bob Peeters could be returning to fitness, but will he get in the team? The former Belgium international may have his work cut out to getting in the starting line up, with the likes of Danny Dichio, Barry Hayles and Scott Dobie in front of him in the pecking order.
Stuck at the bottom of an official website article outlining Millwall's injury situation was the news that Bob Peeters is expected to be back training on January 31.
After initially reading to the bottom line without registering, on studying a second time it clicked that this was in fact the same Bob Peeters whose name had been virtually erased from my mental picture of the squad list because he had been absent with a foot injury for so long.
Yet this was the same Bob Peeters whose trials and tribulations in Millwall's colours we once upon a time followed on a weekly basis.
And the same Bob Peeters who not so long ago was a high profile signing with the weight of a juicy wage-packet's worth of expectation bearing heavily on his broad shoulders.
You know what, this was also the very same Bob Peeters who memorably struck three goals against Crystal Palace and Gillingham in the space of two games to become an instant hero that many were predicting would go on to achieve great things at the Den.
All this, and less than eighteen months ago.
So if and when the tall Belgian striker makes a first team return for the Lions, do us a favour and be patient, remember what the guy is capable of, and give him every opportunity to see if it can be recreated on a regular basis.
Don't forget that everybody deserves a second chance.
