Heavy rumours abound in the Italian press that Arsene Wenger is interested in bringing veteran defender Lilian Thuram to the club, to add some experience to his back line. Juventus could very well be willing to let Thuram leave after six years service with the club, but his wages could yet prove a stumbling block.

As to could be the length of the contract offered with Arsenal only prepared to give a one year deal and the Frenchman wanting at least a two year contract.

While Wenger is all in favour of youth and has never been one to shirk a players chances merely because of his age, the likes of Philippe Senderos, Emmanuel Eboue and Gael Clichy, could all benefit from Thuram’s vast experience.
