Toon star aiming for international return

Newcastle United defender Jean-Alain Boumsong is looking towards France’s upcoming match with Costa Rica to make a comeback. He missed Newcastle’s game against Birmingham, due to what was described as ‘a personal matter’. But he is keen to return to the fray for his country:

"I missed out on that match after having an agreement with my coach (Graeme Souness)," said Boumsong.

"Due to left thigh pain and a personal matter.

"But I am keen to play with the French team if the coach calls me."

The match against Costa Rica takes place in Martinique.
