Owen happy on Tyneside

Despite some speculation by the bitter and twisted red side of the Mersey, Michael Owen has stated how happy he is with life at Newcastle United both on and off the pitch, admitting he has settled on Tyneside much quicker than he thought he would. Speaking to the clubs official website Owen stated: "We're happy with the way things are progressing.

"We wouldn't have thought after five games and one point, when we were looking around us rather than right up at the top, that we'd be looking up at the European places.

"But in the last month or so we've done well, and we've progressed in a cup competition so we're pleased with the run we're on."

"I still feel quite new to the club, I've only played five games. Two of them were at St. James' so I'm looking forward to playing there again against Birmingham
"I'm in my house now, I'm settled. My child is in little nursery group now and happy, so everything is going really well.

"I've settled in much better than I thought.

"The hotel was fine that I stayed in, but I got into the house in double quick time so everything has settled won really well.

On the Birmingham game:

"It would be nice to keep the run going, and keep it up after Birmingham as well if we do well tomorrow.

"It's nice to get on a run and stay on a run. It would be good if we could sign off with a win before the international break, then it will be nice to look at the league table looking up rather than down.

"I think Birmingham are a better team than the league table suggests, they have got a strong team and they've always been a hard team to beat.

"I'm sure their luck will turn soon, but hopefully it's not tomorrow.

"Even at this stage of the season with 10 or 11 games gone, two wins on the spin pushes you up a few places, and we're trying to get another two or three wins to move up further.

"They will know that two or three wins for them will make their league position look a lot healthier.

"We're only a quarter of the way through the season, and I'm sure things will level out by about Christmas time, you'll see where the better teams are.

"We're only concerned about ourselves; we're not bothered about other teams beating each other as long as we can keep winning."
