Beckham Critics Wrong - Gillespie

The comments come before Northern Ireland and England clash in a World Cup Qualifier on Wednesday night.

 

Gillespie was in the Manchester United academy with Beckham and feels Beckham adds real talent to the England team.

 

Gillespie said:

 

"It's not surprising to me what he has gone on to achieve in the game,"

 

“Even in Manchester United's youth team he had something special about him. You knew he would be a top player.

 

"I would be happy if he didn't play. I just find it amazing that people are questioning where he might fit into the system.

 

"He is playing for one of the best club in the world in Real Madrid, he is captain of his country and he has a great scoring record."
