Deportivo La Coruña has sold Walter Pandiani to Birmingham for 4.5 million euros in what had become one of the toughest negotiations this summer. The Uruguayan striker will finally stay in the team where he was loaned for another three seasons.
After seven months of negotiations, Depor and the Blues reached an agreement over Pandiani’s transfer. The Spanish team will receive around 4.5 million euros, fee that could be increased according to some clauses in which Birmingham will pay more depending on the results of the team, such as qualifying for Europe.
The 29-year-old striker played for the Blues last season on loan from Deportivo La Coruña, and a conflict was created when new manager Joaquín Caparrós didn’t want him back in the team, and the player himself didn’t want to return.
This way, the Spanish side are now in financial conditions of buying a new player, that would be a powerful striker with good aerial abilities.
