Juventus are closing in on Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira, with some sections of the press reporting that he could sign as early as today. The Gazzetta dello Sport, goes as far as saying that Vieira and Juventus have agreed personal, terms, but accept that the fee wanted by Arsenal is still causing problems.

But there is little doubt that Juventus are going all out to capture their man with club administrator Antonio Giraudo stating:

"The Frenchman has great quality, not only as a player but as a man.

"There's no doubt that we are interested, even if it's going to be very difficult to take him away from Arsenal, a very solid club."

But he did caution against a deal being struck saying simply:

"At this time, the conditions aren't there."

Juventus Vice-president Roberto Bettega chipped in his twopeneth worth stating:

“If Arsenal decide to sell Vieira we would be in for him tomorrow.”

Juventus transfer guru Luciano being his normal self stated:

“I will only comment once everything has been sealed. We are interested in Vieira, but we are also interested in other players.”

“Juventus always keep an eye on the transfer market, and if deals can be done, we will do them - but if Arsenal want too high a fee, nothing will happen.”
