Valencia, quite unexpectedly, cancelled a transfer for Jan Kromkamp yesterday.
The official reason of this decision is that Valencia will not take the risk, and they aim at Kromkamp's ankle.
Kromkamp isn't fully recovered from his serious ankle injury yet and that is reason enough for Valencia to abandon the transfer.
The truth is a bit more complicated though. Valencia cannot match the €8m price, AZ is asking for, because they cannot get a bank guarantee for that money.
Kromkamp is extremely gutted with this news and his agent Edwin Olde Riekerink, informed the other interested side FC Porto immediately after the Valencia deal collapsed. FC Porto are now expected to make a bid again for the AZ and Holland right back.
Kromkamp could be re-united with former AZ manager Co Adriaanse if he decides to join Porto.
