Juventus want Liverpool captain

Reports out of Italy are today claiming that Juventus’ real transfer target this summer is Steven Gerrard of Liverpool with director general Luciano Moggi stating: "I think that Juventus are more willing to make a play for a midfielder rather than Cassano, as this is the area we most need to strengthen."

"If Vieira was on the market then we’d already have made a bid. He’s undoubtedly a champion, but Arsenal doesn’t want to release him."

But all the rumours in Italy are that the real objective is to get Gerrard, actually persuading him to come might be a different matter. But Juventus have a habit of getting what they want.
