Schuster moves to Boca?

German coach Bernd Schuster might become the next Boca Jrs. trainer. The Argentinian team is close to let Jorge Benítez go after a disappointing season, and negotiations with Levante's former head coach have already started. In another surprising move, Boca Jrs. seem to have found a new coach for the upcoming season. Big names like Marcelo Bielsa and Louis Van Gaal were heard at La Bombonera, but suddenly the former Levante's coach appeared in the scene. Contacts and negotiations have been made very fast and the two sides are close to an agreement.

Under Jorge Benitez's command, the team had very tough times and only managed to play nice for a week. Now his job as Boca's head coach seems to be coming to a end, since the team needs to overcome the heavy loss suffered in Mexico against Chivas (4-0) in order to get to Copa Libertadores semi-finals. The Argentine team can no longer challenge for the local title and are struggling to get into international cups for next season, a quite difficult looking task.

Bernd Schuster is not well-known in Argentina, even though he partnered with Maradona in Barcelona as players, so the idea of him taking Boca's seat is quite striking. He can speak Spanish very fluently (nothing like Van Gaal), since he spent 13 years in Spain playing for Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid, and worked as trainer in Xerez and Levante.
