Patrick Kluivert arrived at Newcastle United, with a big reputation. A star since his youngest years he had played for some great sides, and was still the right age to become a legend on Tyneside.
He was unfit, and over weight admittedly, but with dedication and training over the course of a season, he became, well er…more unfit and overweight.
But he has gone to pastures new, Valencia where coach Quique Sanchez Flores, is confident he can stop him eating and drinking as much (well they don’t have Greggs in Valencia, so he may be right.)
But where did it all go wrong at Newcastle?
Was his heart simply not in it? When Kluivert started he usually scored, alright he didn’t do a lot else, but there is little arguing with his goalscoring ability.
Should we have hung onto him? Well personally it’s a question I would prefer to answer after I see who we get in, but lest just say we can do worse.
So Adios Paddy, if we meat again, in say the UEFA cup, I will make sure I send you those special training pasties you were so fond of.
