But what are Spurs really losing?

Let me start by saying I am not a Spurs fan, personally I am yet to forgive them for Chas and Dave, but the sheer arrogance of Chelsea will mean, that in this one issue I would support them. (Providing there are no songs from the bearded ones). This week has already given us the tapping up of Arsenal’s Ashley Cole, a guilty verdict and a large fine followed. But what is really the upshot of it?

Cole is now unhappy at Arsenal and is looking to move, and where will he move to? Chelsea that’s where, it was not a fine, it was a down-payment.

Now the headlines for that case hardly off the back and indeed front pages and they are at it again. They will probably now lose 3 points at the beginning of next season, but if this season can be used as a bench mark, they will still be run away winners.

But really what are Spurs losing?

I speak to a fair few Spurs fans, throughout the season and there is little doubt they were happy with their new Sporting Director, but really the driving force behind the team was the manager Martin Jol, not director Frank Arnesen. It was Jol who selected the team, Jol who decided tactics and Jol who guided Spurs to their best league position in years.

Chelsea have shown that they hold the rest of the football world in such contempt, that something does have to be done and quickly or Peter Kenyon, Jose Mourinho and company will continue to try to destabilise their rivals, because make no mistake this is what they are doing.

It might have been Arsenal last week, it may be Spurs this week, but how long until its someone from your club? Is this really what we want for the future of English football.

Now for once, that gentleman’s club that is the FA have to act decisively once and for all, and show it will not be tolerated. Money will not hit Chelsea, they have it in abundance, taking the chance of glory will.
