Real Madrid star insists he is staying in Madrid

Despite press speculation linking Figo with a move to Spurs, Newcastle United and Arsenal, the player himself insists he is staying at Madrid to see his contract out. He has a year left on his current deal and it was rumoured that Madrid were willing to release him from that contract allowing him to seek a new club, but in an interview with Portuguese television station TVI, Figo insisted:

"I want to honour my contract."

"But if that is not their wish we will have to find an agreement.

"I have no knowledge of this information but if that has been published today then there will be more in the coming days.

"I'm not playing so I understand that it can't be very nice for the club to pay me for not playing but there are other players in the same situation."
