28th time lucky for Juventus

In what if you’re not a Juventus fan, can feel increasingly predictable, Juventus are once again Champions of Italy. Although because a press ban its difficult to tell the celebrations for Juventus themselves. Milan handed Juventus the title when they failed to beat this year’s surprise package Palermo, leaving Juventus 4 points ahead with only one game remaining.

It hasn’t been a vintage season by Juve, but it’s been a winning one, which when all is said and done is the main thing.

Yet the celebrations were strangely muted, there was not the usual rush to the centre of the city to celebrate and there were only a few fans rushing to the Piazza Castello meeting point. Which I suppose must be partly due to the fact that the usual setting of Piazza San Carlo is sealed off for repairs.

But it could always be because Juventus did not actually have to play to become champions, an unusual state of affairs for Italians, but one which I doubt will trouble Juventus themselves.

I am sure, (if Juve lift their silence on the matter anyway) all celebrations will be back on next week. And even this Hellas fan will congratulate them, all be it through much gritted teeth.
