No Spurs or Villa contact for West Brom star

West Brom have denied that they have had any contact from either Spurs or Aston Villa for their star midfielder Zoltan Gera. There had been wide reports that the Hungarian born player was about to leave. But these have been angrily rejected by West Brom, who have vowed to do everthing they can to hang onto the player:

"The agent quoted does not act on behalf of Zoltan and, as the manager Bryan Robson has said on numerous occasions, Zoltan is very happy here and very popular in the dressing room," said West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace.

"He is contracted to Albion for a further two years, plus an extra year option in the club's favour.

"We have had no contact from the clubs Mr Filipovic quotes - or any club - about Zoltan and we are looking to build on the squad we have, not dismantle it."
