Experimental Italy cuts no Iceland

An experimental Italy, could only manage a goalless draw in a friendly with Iceland last night. Marcelo Lippi was without most of his star names as he looked to use untested players, only to see them fail to break down the Iceland defence. And even when Italy did manage to find the net through Palermo hit-man Luca Toni, it was over ruled for a dubious foul, it wasn’t set to be Toni’s night when a second effort, this time by Roma's Daniele De Rossi was ruled offside, when it was Toni in the off side position.

Even with Iceland reduced to ten men following the dismissal of Kari Arnason, who was shown the red card for serious foul play after just arriving as a substitute. Italy were still unable to find a way through
