Former Manchester United star Jaap Stam, is all set for an emotional return to Old Trafford, a side he has admitted in the past he never wanted to leave. But he is not afraid of the boo-boy’s, in fact he anticipates a warm welcome, to reward him for his efforts while there.
There seems little doubt, that but for some ill timed words in a book, Stam could still very well be at Old Trafford to this day, as he was a well liked and respected player, not to mention a devastatingly effective one during his stay there.
Now for the quotes themselves:
Speaking with Il Giornale, Jaap Stam said: ’I'm ready to return to the Old Trafford, it is my first time after leaving them in summer 2001. Since that moment I haven't met or spoken with any Manchester officials or coaches again. I have still some friends there, and they have already told me that I won't be whistled. On the contrary, I expect applause and a warm welcome.'
