Manchester United and Real Madrid clash over midfi

Manchester United and Real Madrid are getting set to tussle over land Bordeaux midfielder Rio Mavuba. Real Madrid had made the youngster their number one target of this transfer window, but now Manchester United have clouded things some what, by offering 11 million for the player at the end of the season.

And this offer may very well appeal to Bordeaux, who would like to hang on to the player until the end of the season. Madrid are offering less, but they are offering it now and hope to convince Bordeaux to cash in on the player.

Mavuba himself is keeping a dignified silence, but sources close to the player think he would prefer to move to Real Madrid.
