Real Madrid confirm Newcastle bid

Real Madrid has this morning confirmed that they have received a bid for striker Fernando Morientes from Newcastle United. They did not confirm exactly how much the bid was for, only that it was in excess of a 3.5 million bid received off Liverpool earlier in the week. Morientes will almost certainly leave Real Madrid in January frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities; he has been given permission to speak to other clubs.

Another player that could be on his way to St James’s Park is Brett Emerton, a player who initially turned down Newcastle in favour of Blackburn.

While I still personally can’t understand why we are so keen to land another striker at least it is a one of quality
