Freshly promoted Fiorentina are looking to strengthen their squad with the capture of Barcelona's midfielder Gerard. The Spanish international is often reported as being unhappy at the Nou Camp and could very well welcome the move.
His chances of regular football at Barcelona, which had already taken a dent with the signing of Ludovic Giuly and the arrival of Porto's Deco, were looking slim and he is understood to be keen on the move to Serie A.
The only stumbling block would appear to be his wages as he would be forced to take a wage-cut on his current salary of 1.4 Million a year.
