Brescia Vs Juventus Match report

What could have been billed as Baggio vs Lippy, as the long time virtual hatred, between these 2 was surely enough to make it a personal night, with Del Peiro, Baggio's successor at Juventus starting the game on the bench it had the right combination for a fairytale. Baggio was looking to be only the 5th player in Seria A history to score 200 goals, and how he would have loved to do it against a man who has dispenced with his services twice before, at Juventus and Inter.

And the game could hardly have started much better for Brescia, when some disjointed defending led to a weak punch by Buffon, which allowed Mauri a tap in. 2 minutes played. Brescia 1 Juve 0.

A couple of half chances follwed for Juventus with Nedved shooting wide and Castellazzi denying DiVaio but this really was Brescia's half.

A briliantly worked free kick from 25 yards saw DiBagio lob a pass over which eventually found its way to Baggio, who crossed to give Caricciolo a tap in. Brescia 2 Juve 0, 38 minutes played.

Brescia really deserved to go in at the break ahead, it had been a poor Juventus performance.

2nd Half.

Was only 3 minutes old when Di Bagio turned from hero to villan, bringing down Nedved inside the area leaving the ref no choice but the book him and award the penalty.

Then the farce began Micolli takes his run up and sends it to the keepers right, goal....or maybe not, the ref wasn't happy with the run up. Again Micolli steps up, and again he sends it to the keepers right....goal...er well no, the ref still wan't happy with the run up, 3rd time lucky. For the 3rd time Micolli sends the ball to the keepers right, this time it stands, Brescia 2 Juventus 1.

There had hardly been time to restart when Juventus were level, a delighful pass by Thurham, which was touched on by the very impressive Micolli, gave DiVaio the chance to break his barren spell with a simple finish. Brescia 2 Juventus 2.

Del Peiro at long last makes an appearence for a clearly relieved DiVaio and by now its only a matter of who scores next, Brescia were in no way outclassed and it was still very much anyone's game, but cometh the hour and all that, brescia's keeper parries a cross, which bobbles its way out to about sixteen yards and Pavel Nedved, who,s first touch was sublime, his second even better and fires it in to the right of the unhappy Castellazzi.

Final Score Brescia 2 Juventus 3.
