Spurs to sign Leonardo in January?

NAC Breda striker Leonardo will sign for Tottenham Hotspur in January, according to reports in both England and Holland. Arsenal and Wigan Athletic are interested in the Brazilian as well but it seems Spurs are his most likely destination. Leonardo is still awaiting Dutch citizenship, he will be able to apply for a work permit in England should he receive the status before january. Whether Leonardo would be able to join Spurs in January seems to depend on paperwork.

Leonardo Vitor Santiago joined Feyenoord when he was only twelve. The 23-year old made his debut for the Rotterdam-outfit when he was seventeen. He was very succesful in his first year with Feyenoord but ever since he struggled to make the first team.

Since January 2006 Leonardo is playing for NAC Breda, where he signed a contract until June 2007. The Brazilian has a limited transfer fee clause of around £400k in his contract.

Leonardo is one of the best forwards in the Dutch eredivisie, although he is one of the most inconsistent as well.

The dribbling wizard is well known for his temper and his moody attitude towards team mates and managers. But Martin Jol has experience with handling difficult players like Hossam Mido.
