Tottenham Hotspur have tabled an offer for Gjøvik Lyn's Alexander Olsen, a 17-year-old striker dubbed the 'new Ole Gunnar Solskjaer'. The teenager - currently plying his trade in Norway's third division - impressed Spurs' scouts in a league match several months ago, netting a hat-trick to prompt the inevitable comparisons with his older, more famous compatriot.

And after having had some time to assess the youngster's talents during a week-long stay in London with the Premiership side, Spurs boss Martin Jol is now lining up an £80,000 swoop for the teenager.

Gjøvik Lyn official Arve Hansen told eurosport.com: "Spurs made us an offer yesterday [Thursday] of a million Norwegian Crowns.

"We hope an agreement can be reached next week. We want the boy to go to London to play his football."

Other clubs such as Bayern Munich and Chelsea were rumoured to be trailing Olsen.
