Huddersfield Replace Jon Stead

Huddersfield Town signed Polish Under-21 international striker Pawel Abbott on a month's loan from Preston North End, in an attempt to replace Jon Stead.

The 22-year-old will join The Terriers on Monday and is likely to make his debut for the Third Division side away at Bristol Rovers next Tuesday.

The former LKS Lodz striker has fallen down the pecking order in the striking department at Deepdale and Town boss Peter Jackson was pleased to land him following Stead's departure to Blackburn Rovers.

"He's here for a month initially and we will see how he goes from there," Jackson told Huddersfield's official website.

"I have been watching him for a while, not just this season, and I'm pleased that he is on his way to The McAlpine.

"Unfortunately he won't be playing for us at Torquay this weekend because he has to go back to Poland to finish his National Service, but he will be joining us in Bristol in Tuesday."
