Portsmouth midfielder Nigel Quashie has signed a three-year extension to his contract with the Fratton Park club. The former Forest and QPR man has had a terrible time of late with his young son sadly dying.

Quashie is gratetful to the club for standing by him and repayed them by extending his contract, speaking to the Portsmouth official site Quashie revealed his love for the club. "After my son died so young I had to get my life back on track and Portsmouth helped me.

"I moved closer to London and started to re-build again. People say that I fell out with David Platt at Forest but that wasn't the case, I just want to set the record straight.

"Everyone at the club, especially Milan and Tony Pulis when he was manager, have done everything they could for me. I'm proud to be at Pompey and so happy to have signed the extension."
