Crystal Palace have completed the signing of midfielder Shaun Derry from Portsmouth. Derry arrives from Portsmouth in a £600,000 deal just days after Andy Johson signed as part of the deal that took Clinton Morrison to Birmingham.
Palace chairman Simon Jordon told the clubs website that he was pleased Derry had signed. "This is someone who Trevor Francis has been keen to bring into the club, he is an excellent addition to our squad."
Striker Dougie Freedman also spoke out on life after Morrison. "With Clinton gone there's a lot of responsibility on my shoulders. Hopefully we can sign one or two more players to take a bit of the pressure off me."
Freedman also revealed that he has yet to sign his new contract. "We've not actually signed it yet, but the Chairman and I have agreed to a contract over the next four years."
