Veteren striker Wayne Allison has signed for Sheffield United. The 33-year-old passed his medical and put pen to paper on his contract.

Allison was released by Tranmere this summer and Blades boss Neil Warnock was keen to sign Allison straight away.

Allison revealed how the trasnfer un-folded and his hopes for the new season to the clubs website. "This is a new chapter for me and another step forward.

"I've been here training with the lads for the past four weeks and now I'm pleased to be part of it.

"After I left Tranmere, Neil Warnock asked me what the situation was and I told him that I was actively looking for a new club. He asked me to come and train, I've worked hard, obviously impressed and now I'm looking forward to playing for United.

"I'm proven at first division level and now I have to prove myself here.

You cannot fail to be impressed by this club, we have a good squad and we will be disappointed if we are not challenging for the play-offs."

Allison become's Warnock's 6th signing of the summer after Steve Yates, Paddy Kenny, Iffy Onuora, Stuart McCall and Laurens Ten Heuvel all signed earlier in the summer.
