Blackburn Rovers are believed to be ready to make another attempt at singing Coventry's David Thompson. The Worthington Cup holders expressed an interest in the goal-scoring midfielder before the World Cup but the £5million price tag forced Rovers to look elsewhere.

With Coventry's financial situation getting worse by the day Blackburn could now take the ex-Liverpool man to Ewood Park for around £2million. Coventry have struggled to raise funds this summer and the offer for Thompson is one that they cannot afford to turn down.
