Bradford City players will not be striking despite claims in the national press over the weekend. Several national newspapers claimed that the players would take strike action for the friendly game against Hull City on Tuesday.

Bradford's PFA representative, David Wetherall, dismissed those claims.

Speaking to the clubs website he said the following: "I don't know where this rumour has come from but it is certainly not true.

"It would be fair to say things are as bad as normal at the moment.

"We will be having our usual daily meeting but there is no plan to strike."

Winger Jamie Lawrence baked up Wetherall's statement. "Football just takes all the stress off us at the minute.

"You have to ignore what's going on behind the scenes and coming to work helps you forget about it.

"What happens will happen and you can't change anything.

"This is our job even though we aren't getting paid for it.

"We're doing it for ourselves and if people come to watch the game and you're available on a free then they are going to be impressed with you at the minute."

Bradford's players haven't been paid since the club went into administration in May. The club then terminated the contracts of most of the squad but were forced to reverse on that decision following threats from the Football League.

Bradford have been told that they must come up with a financial package to survive the season by 8 August or face expulsion from the Football League
