Portmsouth have given up on siging Frenchman David Ginola due to the midfielders wage demands. Pompey boss Harry Redknapp expressed his interest in Ginola early in the pre-season and hoped that he could replace Robert Prosenecki at Fratton Park. Ginolas wages demands were too high though and Redkanpp will look elsewhere. "David would have been a great signing for us for a year", said Redkanpp.

"He could have done for this club what Robert Prosencki did last season.

"But there was no way we could afford what he was asking."

It is thought that Ginola will now return France but would still like to stay in England.

Redkanpp will now look to bring in another big name siging with Romario in 'Arry's sights.
