Newcastle defender Gary Caldwell has joined Coventry City on a season-long loan. The Scottish international was linked with the move as soon as Gary McAllister took over the reigns at Highfield Road but only now has the deal been finalised.

Caldwell has struggled to break into the first team at St James' Park with the like of Nikos Dabizas, Andy O'Brien and now Titus Bramble in front of him. Last season Caldwell was on-loan at Scottish Premier League side Hibs and impressed enough to earn 4 full International caps.

It is thought that Caldwell will be a replacement for the departing Gary Breen, who could sign for......Newcastle.
