Grimsby Town defender Simon Ford has begun pre-season training with 1st Division rivals Wolves. Ford is out of contract at Grimsby but Mariners boss Paul Groves has offered the defender a new deal which Ford indiciated he would accpet.

It now seems that Ford will move to Molineux and snub Grimsby's offer despite the club giving him his chance last season after he looked destined for the scrap-heap following his release from the Charlton Academy. Ford has played just a handfull of professional games yet that has been enough to attract potential suitors.

If Ford does move to Wolves or anywhere else, Grimsby will be entitled to compensation as the player is under 24.

Wolves are also rumoured to be considering a swap offer from Southampton for left back Lee Naylor for cash+Kevin Davies. Neither club has responded to the speculation.

In a hectic day for Wolves the new club sponsors were revealed as 'Dorito's. The deal is worth £1.5million.
