Chelsea striker Carlton Cole has extended his loan spell at Division One under achievers Wolverhampton Wanderers for another month. Wolves boss Dave Jones had requested to Claudio Ranieri that he be given permission to keep Cole on loan as Welsh International Nathan Blake is currently sidelined until well into the new year.

The Blues boss believes that a extended loan spell at the Midlands Club will help him aid his development as the England U-20 striker is behind World Class players such as Eidur Gudjohnsen, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Gianfranco Zola.

Cole's first month on loan will official end on New Years Day clash with Derby County in their Midlands Derby, he will remain with Wolves until 1 February 2003.

However it is very unlikely that Cole will be given permission to play in Wolves FA Cup tie with Newcastle United at Molineux as the Blues do not want him cup-tied, the reason being that if Chelsea are on a good Cup run then Cole could be used in later rounds.
