Nottm Forest's planned expansion of the City Ground is dependant on promotion to the Premier League. Forest are currently riding high in the first division and with youngsters like David Prutton and Michael Dawson proving the Academy's worth, the future is bright at the City Ground.

The club plans to expand the capacity at the City Ground by almost 10,000 (to give a 40,000 capacity) by building a new Main Stand. That would allow the club to host international sporting events.

All of this is if the club can reach the Premier League though.

"A new stand is very much in our thoughts for the long-term strategy of the club," said Chief executive Mark Arthur.

"But it could only happen if we were to get back into the Premier League and also acquire the freehold from Nottingham City Council.

"We owe it to our supporters, who themselves have invested in the club, to look at ways of projecting us into the 21st century.

"They can be assured that nothing would happen until we were convinced the strategic plan was financially viable.

"We would only build from the soundest of foundations," added Arthur
