Coventry hope to sign highly-rated Liverpool winger Richie Partridge on loan. Coventry boss Gary McAllister is well aware of Partridge having played with him during his spell at Liverpool. The 22-year-old has failed to make an impression on the first team at Anfield despite been on the verge of the full Republic of Ireland team.

McAllister is hoping to have the deal completed in time for Saturday's game with Millwall. "Hopefully we shall have Richie Partridge signed from Liverpool by Friday's deadline so that's a nice little boost," he said.

"It'll be on a month's loan initially. He's a natural wide player who's got a bit of pace.

"Having worked with him for a couple of years up there he's an exciting player, who wants his chance.
