Watford have offered Dennis Wise a chance to kick-start his career, providing he plays for free. Wise was finally sacked by Leicester yesterday after a court hearing ruled they could, leaving Wise without a club.

The ex-England international has been training with Watford since the original sacking in pre-season.

Watford boss Ray Lewington is realistic about the proposal though and doubts Wise will accept. "If we could have had him we would but we haven't got a penny. We can't offer him anything.

"If he wants to come and play for us for nothing fine, it's the only way we're going to add to the squad - but I think it's unlikely. "He was always just going to use us to get fit and I haven't spoken to him about a move."
