The Football League have told Leicester City that they must re-instate Dennis Wise after sacking him. Wise was sacked after assulting team-mate Callum Davidson and fractured his cheekbone.

The Football League issued a statement which read: "After a six-hour hearing the commission concluded that Wise did assault team-mate Callum Davidson on the club's pre-season tour of Finland in July.

"However, it was felt by the commission that this offence did not warrant the termination of Wise's playing contract."

Leicester chairman Martin George was not happy with the verdict and said the club shall appeal. "We are astonished the Football League regulations do not allow for the dismissal of a player who has committed a serious and unprovoked assault on a fellow professional.

"We have immediately appealed against the decision in regard to the dismissal."
