Alvaston & Boulton 230-9 lost to Dunstall 231-9 by 1 wicket

This was a brilliant performance by A & B against one of the strongest teams in the League. Rain affected the game and the Dunstall innings was reduced to 39 overs. As expected they went for the runs and achieved victory by the narrowest of margins with two balls to go. Batting first A & B made a poor start and they were in serious trouble at 56-5, but they were saved yet again by a brilliant innings from Anthony Woolley who made 108, which included nineteen fours. He was supported by Adie West who contributed 43 in a sixth wicket stand of 103.

Their total posed a serious challenge to Dunstall because rain was threatening, but their batsmen went for the runs and there were good performances from Paul Shaw (41), Jamie Benstead (35), and Phil Simmons (49). However, wickets fell at regular intervals and the last pair were at the crease when the winning run was made with just one ball to go. Hard luck on A & B's captain Darren Pooley who bowled his heart out in taking 5-82.

Chesterfield 256-6 beat Sawley & L.E.Park 255-8 by 4 wickets

This was another close one which ended in the dark. Sawley's innings was a genuine team effort, with good contributions from Bilal Shafayat (44), Joe Greenhalgh (36), Ahmed Gondal (36), Dan Birch (33), and Jon Polley (31 not out). Chesterfield's skipper, Dave Adams took 3-49, and their innings was given an early boost by another fine knock from Brad Eridiweera who made 78. After losing 6 wickets Tim Kirk and Peter Stokes took control and steered their side to victory. Kirk was 57 not out and Stokes 34 not out. Ahmed Gondal took 3-57, but Sawley were again docked two points for slow over rates.

Clifton 172-3 beat Ilkeston Rutland 168-8 by 7 wickets

Early rain reduced this match to 45 overs a side, but it produced a positive result. Batting first Rutlands batsmen found runs hard to get, but there was resistance from Matt Boyer (32) and Ian Banks (35 not out). Clifton seemed happier in the conditions and good knocks from Mohammed Masood (54) and Roger Jones (42) prepared the way for Karl Krikken to gain some useful batting practice following his recent injury when playing for Derbyshire. He saw Clifton home in making 41 not out and demonstrated his return to fitness. This welcome win was achieved in 35.1 overs.

Denby 166 drew with Wirksworth 117-4

Denby were made to graft for their runs and were dismissed in 51 overs. Their top scorers were Ian Parkin (45) and Peter Scott (38). For Wirksworth Mark Woodward took 4-53 and Izra Adalet 3-29. So Denby had 59 overs to bowl at Wirksworth, but it soon became clear that Wirksworth were determined not to be bowled out. With David Greatorex acting as the anchor man they played out time to earn a draw, with Greatorex on 52 not out and six wickets in hand.

Langley Mill 123 lost to Sandiacre Town 125-4 by 6 wickets

Langley Mill lost early wickets which saw them reduced to 30-4. There was a partial recovery thanks to Adrian Marsh (43) and Zahid Iqbal (31), but they were dismissed in 47.4 overs for a poor total. Naeem Akhtar took 3-31 and Paul Standring 3-25. Sandiacre knocked off the required runs in 31 overs, with Naeem Akhtar showing what a good all-rounder he is in making 56 not out.

Ockbrook 104-4 beat Quarndon 101 by 6 wickets

Ockbrook won the toss and elected to field first in a match reduced to 53 overs. Some tight bowling by Brian Gladwin (4-31) and Trevor Smith (3-30) helped to tumble Quarndon out in 42.2 overs. Ockbrook then went all out for a quick win, which they achieved in 26 overs, though there were some set backs as they lost two wickets for 16 and four wickets for 41. Kevin Newbold (3-49) posed an early threat, but Trevor Smith steadied things with an assured knock which saw him reach 44 not out to earn the quick win before the rain came.
