Leeds v Derby - team news

The new season gets underway on Saturday, and it marks the start of a new dawn for Leeds. In new division, with a brand new team and new manager, it’s a fresh beginning for the troubled club. Blackwell will be handing debuts to probably 9 players, as he looks to set down a marker at the 12.00 kick off. He is still chasing up to 4 new signings, but is likely to have the line up for Saturday in his mind. In goal, ex Chelsea stopper Neil Sullivan will make his bow. The back 4 will line up as Kelly, Duberry, Captain Butler, and either Kilgallon or Pugh as left back. The midfield is a little harder to call. Jermaine Wright and Mathew Spring are expected to be the central pairing, although Simon Walton is pushing hard for a place. Out wide, Fraser Richardson who impressed against Hibs, Cadamartari, Pugh and Guppy are all fighting for 2 spots, whilst up front, Ricketts and Joachim are the likely starters. This is the start of a massive season for Leeds, and although it will be difficult for the first few games while the new players gel, it is vital that they get off to a strong start. The game kicks off at noon, three hours before all the others, which means, come 2 o’clock, we are likely to be first, or last….
