Today is transfer deadline day, and another two players are out of the door. Paul Robinson is about to finalise his move to Spurs, although will stay with us for the remainder of the season, and Michael Bridges is going to Newcastle on loan. By the time his loan expires, he will be out of contract, and free to go where he wants. Both deals come as no real surprise. Robbo, if anything, seems to have gone backwards this year as a keeper, but playing behind our flimsy defence, it isn’t really suprising. Leeds will be looking to bring a new keeper in by the end of the season, possibly only as a stop gap though. Teenager Scott Carson is rated as a better keeper than Robbo was at the same age, so is one for the future. Bridges is slightly different. We all remember the quality player he was in his first season here, and prayed he could get back to that level. Injuries though have changed him, and it is evident to all that it is unlikely that he will ever get back to near that level. I would be very surprised if Newcastle kept him on beyond this season, as, after 6 months of being fit, he still is struggling. It’s an awful shame for Bridgey, who is a top bloke, and on his day, a hell of a player. Leeds are expected to bring someone in though today, probably on loan…
