Leeds produced yet another awful performance, and to anyone who witnessed it, relegation seems a certainty. We were awful. No imagination, no flair, and too many average players. The game was lost in midfield. Dom tried, as he always does, but isn’t a centre midfielder, and it showed. Pennant, was the best of the 4, and although his final ball wasn’t always the best, he tried, and was our only threat. The other two were woeful. Seth Johnson gave as poor a performance as I can remember from any player, and Eirik Bakke was only marginally better. Neither passed, tackled or ran, and we were completely outclassed in midfield. Middleboro only had 5 shots on target, and 3 found the net, so it’s not as if we were under siege, but we never looked like scoring. Boss Eddie Gray needs to make some changes, and get some creativity in the team. I personally would look at Mcphail, Lennon and McMaster, as what we’ve got in there is not anywhere near good enough. We also miss an attacking midfielder. Numerous times Smith won a header, and not one of the midfielders tried to get beyond him to pick up the second ball. Milner battled gamely, but we’re expecting an 18 year old to play week in, week out – even Rooney gets rested regularly, and we’re in danger of burning Milner out. With possible sales today (Robinson and Bridges are both tipped to go), the task ahead looks even harder, but many more performances like that on Saturday, and we will be down and out long before the end of the season.
