Leeds are starting to look like the team of old. We are back to playing the high tempo game that hasn’t been seen since around 3 years ago–strangly enough, about the time that Eddie Gray was replaced as first team coach by Kidd! He's got the players hunting for the ball again, and the desire's back The game itself saw Chelsea begin the brighter, but Leeds got in their faces, and never let them settle. On 16 minutes, Smith, again revelling in a midfield role, won a header. Makelele dwelled on the ball, and Pennant whipped it off his toe, rode a tackle, skipped past Gallas, and fired home for a superb goal. It was a piece of quality from the on loan Arsenal man. Leeds were lifted, and after the impressive Viduka freed Mcphail, the Irishmans 20 yard curler was inches wide. Macca did well on his first start for a year, and may yet have a future at Elland Road. After the interval, Chelsea pressed on, but players like Matteo, Duberry, and Radebe were hurling themselves in front of shots, whilst Robinson saved well a couple of times. The equaliser had to come, and after Mutu’s shot was well saved, Duff fired home the rebound. It finished a draw, which was a fair result, and Leeds are off the bottom….
