Portsmouth 6 Leeds 1 - Reids job on the line...

By Andy Baggott

Leeds hit a new low today when they were hammered 6-1 by Portsmouth. The second half was what can only be described as an embarrasement, and the players did the unforgivable and gave up. The first half wasn't too bad, Smith levelling after 17 minutes, but a Hayden Foxe goal a minute before the break proved decisive. United never took to the field in the second half, and produced their worst 45 minutes for a decade. Peter Reids job is hanging by a thread, and it would be no major suprise to see him axed in the next 48 hours. There were few plus points in a dismal performance, with even the usually reliable Robinson making a couple of howlers, and only really Smith emerging with anything lioke credit. The vultures will be circling, and Reid must wonder if he'll still be in the hot seat in a fortnight when Leeds face Bolton..
