Leeds Lose Arbitration

It has been confirmed that Leeds United have LOST in their appeal to overturn the Football Leagues decision to implement a 15 point penalty for the way the club exited Administration at the start of the season. Leeds United have been asking for that decision to be review all year and finally, after the threat of High Court action, the League backed down and agreed to an Arbitration Hearing. The Hearing took place at an undisclosed location earlier this month and was Chaired by retired High Court judge Sir Philip Otton, with the other two members being former Premier League chief executive Peter Leaver and Peter Cadman, a lawyer who has chaired Premier League disciplinary commissions in the past. Prior to the hearing, both Leeds United and the Football League agreed to abide by the decision of the panel and further legal action is not unlikely unless Leeds United believe the Arbitration process was not conducted properly.
The news will be a disappointment to Leeds Utd and their fans as victory would have meant Automatic Promotion to the Championship. Instead, Leeds have already secured a position in the League 1 play-off's and the final round of matches will decide who will play who - Leeds are currently two points behind Southend and the two teams will occupy 5th and 6th place. The 3rd and 4th places are a battle between Doncaster, Nottingham Forest and Carlise with only one team being able to achieve the second automatic promotion slot.
Leeds United have, overall, had a remarkable season. They will be the first team to avoid relegation following a points deduction, let alone the fact they have managed to achieve 6th place in the League.

Shame on the tribunal panel and shame on the football league. I can think of few teams who will be shi tting themselves right now, facing next season with a 15 point deficit. They could be facing another relegation or ceasing to exist.
