Ken Bates spoke today about stories linking former Newcastle Chairman Freddie Shepherd with a takeover bid for Leeds. Bates, speaking on Yorkshire Radio, reiterated that the football club is NOT for sale, but he is still looking for investors - and Shepherd could well fall into that category. Bates admitted talking to the ex Newcastle man over a meal, as the two of them are old friends. Talk got around to football, and they had a general discussion about investment. Bates is usually quick to kill any investment or takeover rumours, and the fact that he didn't dismiss Shepherds interest speaks volumes. A deal that could see Freddie involved with the club at some level - possibly on the board must be a possibility.....
